Jim and Kathy Derington founded Beanscene Espresso in 1994.
Seeing a need in the community for a place to meet, coupled
with their love of coffee, they opened Beanscene in the
Oak Park Shopping Center. Over the years, many of the customers
have become friends and almost family. Having raised two
daughters the Deringtons appreciate the importance of education.
Most of the Beanscene advertising budget is earmarked for
donations to local schools. Jim and Kathy are looking forward
to serving the community in the years to come.
Robbie is the store manager and has
been with the company for eight years. He has seen the Beanscene
grow from a mellow hangout to one of the busiest coffee
stores in town. You can aso catch him around town playing
music as he plays with a few groups as well as writing and

Casey has been with us for five years
and has many years of coffee experience under his belt.
When he is not blending your Beanscene Blast, he is a local
martial arts instructor. In his free time he enjoys reading
and movies.
Thea has been with us for 2 years now
and her warm friendly attitude makes her a true asset to
have around. She currently attends Westlake High School.
Joelle is a coffee veteran who has been
with us off and on for almost 7 years! She has two beautiful
children and her warm smile and sense of humor make her
a joy to have around.
Lacey is a Beanscene veteran and has
worked with us for many years. She is currently attending
Oak Park High School. Her parents are members of Cuppa Joe,
the acoustic band which performs on our patio semi-regularly.
Chris has been with us for over a year
now and is a junior at OPHS. He is quite a talented guy.
Gifted in musical theater, he also finds time to run Cross-Country
when he is not busy at work.
Dwight is here from the Bay Area and
welcomes every customer with his friendly attitude. In his
spare time he enjoys long walks on the beach and beautiful
sunsets. Someday he plans to enter the world of Real Estate.......Go
Giants!
Rachel is currently attending Agoura
High School and in her spare time enjoys horseback riding.
Jessie is currently attending Moorpark
College and loves photography.
